This sad report underscores the total lack of integrity associated with the Pain Medicine Industry which is built on greed and pseudoscience meant to sway and manipulate public policy. While I respect a dishonest crook for at least having a plan, these guys actually believe they have something to offer other than the chance to provide false hope and exploit this group of patients with procedures. Yes, mood altering by opioids decreases chronic pain and the associated neural pathways regardless of the real or imagined physical pathology which is assumed more than proven (i.e. lumbar radiculopathy, spinal stenosis, Central Sensitivity Syndrome, neuropathy, etc). All practicing physicians have witnessed the broken promises of the Pain Medicine industry but kept their eyes and mouths shut least these "problematic" patients fall back to them for care. Even when patients have definite physical pathology, no one wants to assume the role of "policeman" that has been thrust on us in addition to slavish demands to document and justify our practice activities in order to meet "Guidelines" and best practice recommendations that do not always serve the needs of the patient but rather the payor.
