Uric acid is a crystal, much like sugar. If you keep adding sugar to a glass of water it may dissolve for a good whipe but once you hit a certain point the sugar no longer dissolves. This is what happens to uric acid in your blood, kidneys, and joints. I say this to all of my patients to get them to learn and visualize gout.
