Bimekizumab is a dual IL-17A and IL-17F inhibitor, for nr-axSpA and AS
- it works but is it different from existing IL-17i?
- appears to work well in TNFi-inadequate responders
- are TNFi-IR pts immunologically different?

A short review from Dr. Deodhar for axSpA at #RNL2023
*prevalence is increasing
*remember the "3,4,5 rule" for MRI eval
*IL17 appear to be as good as TNFi
*may not need XR monitoring
*time will tell if IL17Fi will improve outcomes

A study of adults aged 45-85 yrs shows that knee osteoarthritis (OA) is an independent risk factor for falls, suggesting a greater need for awareness and prevention.
Data were derived from a 3 year Canadian Longitudinal (Survey) Study on Aging examing those with reported knee OA or no arthritis at baseline (n=21,710).
Overall, those with knee OA, 10%, reported one or more injurious falls (6% 1 fall, 4% 2+ falls).

SURPASS: SEC vs ADA for axSpA
Outcome: %pts with no radiographic progression
Not benefit- Secukinumab not better than adalimumab
Though negative study, in all groups the progression was very low (<1 mSASS) - both interventions did well! #RNL2023 https://t.co/xlw4nzrwpm https://t.co/dhhLMFQnhI
