We need to be better at identifying and managing #depression in patients with #axspa.
In a group of 70 pts, many had high HADs-D & PHQ-9, with worse disease activity & #QoL compared to those with normal scores.

TCZ in GCA: one disadvantage is that you can't use CRP+/- ESR for flares
Mavrilimumab in GCA:
- CRP/ESR consistently go up with symptomatic flares
- CRP/ESR up less (cf. placebo), in the absence of Sx flares
More signal, less noise.

Atypical patterns of HCQ retinopathy:
- outside the central macula
- missed by standard central macula screening
- 41x more likely in Asians!
Lesson: screening with extramacular SD-OCT for Asian HCQ pts is so, so important. 41x over.

#ACR21 #Abstr1011 Can we differentiate NEMO-deleted exon 5 autoinflammatory syndrome (NEMO-NDAS) vs CANDLE? Bioinformatics to mask the IKBKG pseudogene is promising and identified IL-6, 8,18, IFN-I and TNF-induced cell death as future targets @RheumNow https://t.co/tR2PNymMVn https://t.co/yCKHQx6R3E

Baricitinib for *relapsing* GCA (Th1+Th17)
w abbreviated steroid wean (15-22w)
Despite being tougher to treat:
100% off steroids at 24w
93% off steroids at 52w
no ischemic Sx
promising as another GCA Rx option!
(post-cessation 4pts flared)
