Study of hematuria in 86 ANCA Associated Vasculitis pts, compared half with & without hematuria after achieving remission from their glomerulonephritis. Hematuria at remission was not assoc w/ ESRD, but with relapse within 44 mos https://t.co/1ld4lOX1ih

A national database study of 165,748 young females suggest Oral contraceptive use was associated with an 18% (OR 0.82) reduction in anterior cruciate ligament tears. Even lower in 15–19yr olds (OR 0.37). NNT for OCP usage in 15–19 age group was six. https://t.co/If4L5Aq5XJ

Should all CTD patients have PFTs? Review suggests all should have PFTs, DLCO, HiRes Chest CT given prevalence of ILD in RA, PSS, SLE, myositis. PFTs have prognostic value in RA-ILD, esp w/ UIP, but other CTDs have less data on sensitivity/specificity https://t.co/fmG9HfHLt3

Fibomyalgia patients who undergo Knee replacements have significantly more complications (OR 1.55), revisions (OR 1.5), mechanical loosening (OR 1.34) & infection (OR 1.33). MDs and FM pts should be made aware of increased postoperative risks. https://t.co/muFQoco9zg

Toronto Lupus clinic follow up of 267 patients followe for > 10 years finds that only (10% achieved prolonged clinical remission and 18% attained prolonged Low Dz Activity. Both groups had similar low flare rates - 0.038 & 0.065 flares/year/pt. https://t.co/iLJKW0Q7FQ

Large study from OTIS on PsA and AS shows an increased risk for adverse pregnancy outcomes - including preterm delivery (RR 1.81, 3.82) & Cesarean delivery (RR 1.63, 5.82). Active disease & steroid use may also increase these risks. https://t.co/E10SEq32IO

DECT is most accurate in diagnosing established gout - review of 10 studies shows a pooled (95% CI) sensitivity of 0.81 (0.77, 0.86) and specificity of 0.91 (0.85, 0.95), respectively. W/ short disease duration (⩽6 wks), sensitivity 0.55 and spec 0.89 https://t.co/DOdejOZGcv
