Due to the complexity of SLE, rheumatology providers should take an active role in assessing reproductive health, providing education on how SLE may affect pregnancy, and taking a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach with the patient’s gynecologist.

LCDR Jun Chu obtained a Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland. She has practiced as a nurse practitioner in hospital medicine, endocrinology, and rheumatology. She joined the National Institutes of Health, Lupus Clinical Research program, in 2017 and is an associate investigator. She is dedicated to using clinical research to aid in the management of this systemic disease. Her interest involves treating and managing the lupus population with special emphasis on reproductive health. Concomitantly, she is an officer in the United States Public Health Service Corps.
