What saddens me is how bureaucratic medicine is detouring these "intersections of life and disease". There is no algorithm for listening, for compassion, for being that trusted confidante. It's all about clicking little boxes that litter multiple computer program pages and making sure that all the 'meaningless uselessness' parameters are met. These moments of true medicine are to be treasured all the more as they are crowded out of our schedules.
