I am lucky as a rheumatologist in practice for more than 30 years to have only had one malpractice lawsuit. But it was for alleged Plaquenil related eye toxicity, and believe me, attornies will grab any guideline they can as "Standard-of-Care" if it suits their case. All to say, we treat patients, not guidelines, but we all need to aware of these. And lucky for me, my lawsuit was dropped after the plaintiff was seen reading the newspaper and his cell phone in the waiting room of his lawyer's office!
