MMWR: Arthritis Prevalence Increases and Varies Widely

MMWR reports that In 2015, the number of adults with arthritis continued to increase; with marked geographic variability in arthritis estimates with gaps in arthritis management.

IL-18 Binding Protein Effective in Adult-Onset Still's Disease

Gabay and colleagues have reported the results of a novel new recombinant human IL-18 binding protein, tadekinig alfa, demonstrating its effectiveness in an open-label dose escalating study in patients with adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD).

Abatacept Improves GvHD Outcomes

The results from a phase 2 clinical trial presented at the American Society of Hematology meeting demonstrated that the drug abatacept was highly effective in managing severe acute graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) in patients receiving hematopoietic stem cell transplants.

RWCS Meeting Begins Today

Review of 127 pts w/ diagnostic criteria for palindromic rheumatism - Most affected JTS were wrist, knee, MCP; 34% later developed CTD (28% RA, 2% lupus 3% other CTD). Progression predicted by +RF (HR 2.9), PIP (HR 2.4), Wrist (HR 2.5) & female (HR 2.2)

Lockdown worsening; UK survey 678 patients musculoskeletal diseases pts in late April 2020 shows 53% worsening of Sx; 1/3 had clinic/hosp access probs problems & most (88%) had no probs w/ getting meds; but 44% needed others to help them get meds. https://t.co/3efmTdHhQx
