Dr. Mease reviews axial disease in PsA. Here are my pearls.
💎It is not the same as AxSpA
💎Can be asymptomatic
💎sacroiliitis can by asymmetrical
💎may not appear in consecutive vertebrae
💎may not follow ALL

Important pearls on Psoriatic arthritis from #PhilipMease at #RNL2022:
☝️axial disease may present late in the course of PsA vs in early stages if the disease in ankylosis spondylitis
☝️can be asymptomatic (prevalence of inflam back pain 45% vs AS) @RheumNow https://t.co/uIdvMGKrAH

One shortcoming in determining axial disease activity is the BASDAI itself. And yet, this study by Dr. @AlexisOgdie shows that the BASDAI scores were similar in those w and w/o axial disease in PsA. Dr. Mease. And yet not all drugs work equally in PsA/axSpA. #RNL2022 @RheumNow https://t.co/h1PYfNgEV3
